Cumbria (England), much of which is covered by the Lake District, lies very close to the geographical centre of the Great Britain. Amber Nook is perfectly placed for travel, being only a couple of minutes away from the north/south route (the M6) and the cross country route (the A66). However, at the lodge there is no sight or sound to give even a hint of the busy world away from the site.

As can be seen from this map, Amber Nook is very centrally placed for all the Lake District and the less well known but equally beautiful and interesting Eden Valley. For those interested in seeing more of the area, travelling to southern Scotland, the Roman Wall and the towns and cities of the north east is quite feasible.
Famous for its scenery, The Lakes also offer many activities, particularly outdoors. There is much historical and literary interest, the Lakes having been the home of such notable writers as William Wordsworth. To consider more modern times there are many visitors attractions and cultural venues. A few are listed on the Attractions page of this website. Penrith, the nearest town (3 miles away), has a swimming pool and climbing wall within a large sports complex. The town has many restaurants and take-aways, a cinema and many and varied specialist shops. We can only mention on this website a few of the many highlights of the area and cannot do it justice. Those considering the area as a venue, would be well advised to examine the wealth of information found by an internet search on Cumbria or Penrith, England. (Add the England or the search engine will try to tempt you to Penrith, New South Wales).
